Police arrest three men for weapons and alleged drugs in San Juan and La Vega

Santo Domingo.– Three men were arrested by National Police agents during operations carried out in the provinces of La Vega and San Juan, where two homemade weapons, presumably controlled substances, cash, and a cell phone were seized.

In La Vega, two Haitian nationals were arrested during operations carried out by agents of the Regional Sub-directorate of Investigation (DICRIM), together with members of the Preventive Police.

One of those detained is Andy Jeraldo Santo, of legal age, who was intercepted at the entrance of the Sabana Rey community. During the search, officers seized a homemade weapon, known as a “chilena,” which had a cartridge inside, as well as an additional cartridge.

In another intervention, this time in the Las Yayas sector of the Rancho Abajo community, 25-year-old Yeison Fuayilis was arrested. He was found in possession of another homemade “chilena” type weapon, a .357 caliber cartridge, and a cell phone.

Arrest in San Juan

In Las Matas de Farfán, San Juan province, Luis Alberto Pérez Díaz, alias “El Vico”, 37 years old, was arrested during an operation carried out by DICRIM agents in the Pascual García sector.

According to the police report, Pérez Díaz, identified by the authorities as an alleged criminal, was traveling in a white Honda CR-V SUV, license plate G751642.

During the vehicle inspection, four packages of a vegetable substance, presumably marijuana, and a large portion of a white powder, believed to be cocaine, were found. A cell phone and RD$8,800 in cash were also seized.

The Police reported that the three detainees and the seized evidence were handed over to the Public Ministry for the corresponding procedures.

In the case of those arrested in La Vega, the authorities indicated that they would be prosecuted for the alleged violation of Law 631-16, on the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition, and Related Materials.
