Santo Domingo.– The National Police reported the dismantling of an alleged criminal gang dedicated to committing armed robberies in sectors of the National District and Santo Domingo East, achieving the arrest and submission to justice of two of its members, linked to a robbery in the Guachupita sector where a citizen was shot.
The detainees were identified as
Brady Mejía, alias “
El Deportado“, and
Robert Yeral Ureña Méndez, known as “R
obin Gánster“, pointed out by the authorities as direct participants in the assault committed against
Saba Cristiano Rodríguez Núñez and other people on
La Palma street corner
La Fuente, near a pool hall in
Guachupita.
Also,
Andy Peña Batista and
Ángel Chamell Germán, alias “
Melada“, were arrested for investigation purposes, while investigations related to the case are ongoing.
According to the Police, the investigations included the analysis of images captured by video surveillance cameras, which allowed to identify the vehicle used by those involved, a gray Honda CR-V jeep, license plate G401829, later located in the municipality of Tenares, Hermanas Mirabal province.
During the operations, Brady Mejía and Andy Peña Batista were arrested, the latter identified by the authorities as the person who rented the vehicle allegedly used in the act. Meanwhile, Ángel Chamell Germán was arrested in Santo Domingo Este.
According to the police report, Brady Mejía admitted during questioning to having participated in the assault, acting as the driver of the vehicle used by the gang. He also identified other members of the group. For his part, Robert Yeral Ureña Méndez is said to have acknowledged his participation in the event and to have received part of the money obtained from the stolen belongings.
Authorities are actively searching for three men identified as José Armando Piña Infante, alias “El Calvo” and/or “El Gatillero,” as well as others known only by the nicknames “Dowba” and “Pamblock,” who remain fugitives and are considered armed and dangerous.
As part of the evidence seized during the investigation, the Police reported the seizure of a .38 caliber revolver and a bulletproof vest, elements that are part of the file sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The law enforcement institution reiterated its commitment to combat crime and urged fugitives to surrender through the means they deem appropriate to answer to justice.
