Santiago de los Caballeros.– A 22-year-old man, who worked as a private security guard for the company Seguridad Lechuza, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the chin inside a residence in the Las Mariposas residential complex, in the Los Cerros de Gurabo sector, in Santiago.
The victim was identified as Luis Junior, of Haitian nationality and a native of the Pueblo Nuevo sector, in the municipality of Mao, Valverde province.
The incident occurred after 6:00 in the evening on Friday. Preliminarily, the hypothesis is being handled that the young man may have used a firearm to take his own life.
However, so far the authorities have not offered an official version that confirms this hypothesis.
The body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) in Santiago, where the corresponding autopsy is being performed. The results will be decisive in establishing the circumstances and the exact cause of death before releasing the body to the relatives for burial.
The National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are keeping the investigation open and deepening inquiries to clarify what happened inside the residence and determine if it was indeed a suicide.
So far, the young man’s relatives and representatives of Seguridad Lechuza have not offered public statements regarding the case.
