Santo Domingo.– With banners, photographs, and chants for justice, family members, friends, and loved ones of Darling Mercado gathered this Tuesday in front of the Santo Domingo Oeste Prosecutor’s Office to demand that her death be clarified and that those responsible face the consequences before the justice system.
During the demonstration, those present demanded a transparent investigation without privileges, while also calling for the case not to go unpunished. The protesters chanted slogans and carried signs with messages demanding justice for the young man.
Amidst tears, family and friends remembered Darling Mercado as a cheerful, hardworking young man who was loved by those who knew him, asserting that his passing has left a deep void in their lives.

Today, the coercive measure hearing for Corporal José Francisco Moreta is scheduled to take place. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested three months of pretrial detention for the accused.
The request was filed for a charge of voluntary manslaughter, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office maintained that there is sufficient evidence to justify pretrial detention while the investigation continues.
