San José de Ocoa. – Recovery efforts on the road connecting to this province are intensifying after the landslide that seriously compromised the road structure at kilometer 4. The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), in conjunction with the company Ingeniería Estrella, maintains an active operation in the affected area, where heavy machinery works tirelessly to restore traffic in the shortest possible time. As a preventive measure, the authorities ordered the temporary closure of the road for several hours, while recommending that drivers —especially those of cargo vehicles— use the alternate route of Piedra Blanca. However, some drivers ignored the provision, generating congestion in the area. On site, technical teams are progressing with the placement of modular “Lego”-type structures, designed to reinforce the ground and support the backfill material. This intervention will enable a provisional passage while a definitive solution is implemented.
