Santo Domingo.– The Sanar una Nación alliance delivered to the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) a total of 2,325 medical treatments for acute and chronic diseases, as part of a donation valued at US$434,277.60, equivalent to RD$25.7 million.
The medications will strengthen the institution’s wellness and healthcare programs, benefiting both DNCD members and their families. The treatments will allow for the management of conditions such as hypertension, anemia, hypothyroidism, glaucoma, migraines, high cholesterol, seizure disorders, depression, psychiatric conditions, inflammatory processes, and gastrointestinal problems.
During the handover ceremony, the Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Reputation, and Responsible Banking of Grupo Popular, José Mármol, highlighted that so far in 2026, the alliance has allocated more than US$4.8 million (approximately RD$294 million) in donations to 32 institutions in the country. These contributions include the distribution of more than 905,000 portions of fortified food and 313,000 medical treatments.
“We firmly believe that health is an essential pillar for development and social cohesion. Collaboration between the public and private sectors allows for expanding opportunities and improving the well-being of the population,” stated Mármol, while highlighting the work carried out by the DNCD.
For his part, the president of the DNCD, Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, thanked them for the contribution and stated that this donation will strengthen the health and wellness programs aimed at the institution’s personnel, considering that the good physical and emotional state of the agents is fundamental for the fulfillment of their duties.

The activity featured the participation of representatives from the DNCD and the Sanar una Nación alliance, comprised of Grupo Rica, Grupo Popular, Grupo Ramos, and Grupo Universal, in collaboration with CitiHope Relief & Development, an organization dedicated to promoting health and nutrition initiatives through the free distribution of medicines, fortified foods, and medical supplies to vulnerable populations.
