The American embassy in the DR will continue student visa evaluations, despite Trump’s announcement

Santo Domingo.- Through a publication on the social network Instagram, the United States embassy in the Dominican Republic announced that student visa applicants can continue submitting their applications, despite the announcement made by the administration of President Donald Trump of the cessation of the issuance of this type of visa.

“Student and exchange visitor visa applicants can continue to submit their applications. The Consular Section constantly adjusts its schedules to allow sufficient time to thoroughly examine the cases they receive,” the communication states.

The statement signed by Chelsia Hetrick, Counselor for Public Affairs of the embassy, also informs that the scheduling of appointments for non-immigrant visa interviews is a dynamic process, designed to ensure a thorough evaluation in each case. The embassy’s operational capacity is structured in such a way that consular officers have the time and resources necessary to make informed decisions and in accordance with U.S. law.

Each visa evaluation represents a national security decision of the United States“, it emphasizes.
