A large-scale search operation is underway in the Honduran Caribbean following the shipwreck of a vessel identified as Míster Jim, which left two women and a baby missing after departing from La Ceiba towards Puerto Lempira.
The Secretariat of National Defense reported that the personnel of the Puerto Castilla Naval Base, assigned to the Ibans Naval Outpost, maintains search, rescue, and salvage operations continuously. In an official statement it was indicated: “The work is carried out uninterruptedly, with constant patrols and tracking in strategic areas, with the aim of providing immediate assistance to missing persons”.
The wrecked vessel, according to reports by the Armed Forces of Honduras, suffered a failure at sea that caused its sinking. Several people fell into the water during the journey between La Ceiba and Puerto Lempira, a key maritime route for connectivity in the region. Among the missing is a mother who was traveling with her nursing daughter.
