Washington.- United States President Donald Trump announced this Wednesday that his Government plans to build a commemorative arch in the capital that will be larger than the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
In statements to NBC News, Trump indicated that the structure will reach approximately 250 feet in height (about 76 meters), which would make it taller than its Parisian counterpart, which measures about 164 feet.
According to the president, the intention is for Washington to have its own monument that reflects “the power and history” of the American nation.
The project will be integrated into the celebrations for the founding anniversary of the United States, scheduled for 2026, and is part of a series of initiatives promoted by the White House to highlight the patriotic legacy of the country.
While the arch would be located in the vicinity of the Arlington Memorial Bridge, on the border between Washington, D.C., and Virginia, at a point that visually connects Arlington National Cemetery with the Lincoln Memorial.
In addition, the White House believes that this area offers the most appropriate setting for a commemorative emblem of national scope.
