Curitiba, Brazil.– Technology, planning, and real-time management are essential parts of the city model that has made Curitiba an international benchmark in urban mobility. In that direction, the mayor of Santiago de los Caballeros, Ulises Rodríguez, continued his work agenda in Brazil with a visit to the Operational Control Center (CCO), from where the operation of the integrated transport system and other strategic city services is supervised.
The visit is part of the outreach for technical cooperation between the municipalities of Santiago and Curitiba, following the previous meeting between Rodríguez and the mayor of Curitiba, Eduardo Pimentel, who made the support of his technical teams available to the Santiago Mayor’s Office to exchange experiences in strategic areas such as mobility, urban planning, innovation, sustainability, and public management.
Accompanied by specialists from the company URBS and technical teams from the Curitiba City Hall, Rodríguez learned about the operation of the monitoring system that allows for real-time supervision of public transport operations, management of urban mobility, and coordination of responses to situations that impact the city’s functioning.
During the tour, the mayor received explanations regarding the integration between technology, planning, and operational management, a model that has allowed Curitiba to consolidate a more efficient, organized, and connected transport system with urban development.

Rodríguez highlighted that mobility constitutes one of the main challenges for contemporary cities and stated that learning about successful experiences allows for the identification of solutions that, when adapted to the local reality, contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens and continuing to accelerate the development of the Heart City.
“The most competitive cities are those that use technology and planning to make better decisions. We are learning about models that have shown results and that can serve as a reference to continue building a more orderly, connected, and efficient Santiago,” he/she expressed.
According to the Mayor’s Office, the technical agenda in Curitiba will continue with new meetings aimed at deepening the knowledge of urban planning and administration tools, as part of the Santiago Mayor’s Office strategy to incorporate international best practices that strengthen institutional capacities and the transformation of the Heart City.
