Wave of violence shakes several states of Mexico after the death of “El Mencho”

Mexico. – The confirmation of the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” alleged leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), unleashed a series of violent events in different parts of the country, generating road blockades, burning of vehicles, and armed confrontations. The operation that culminated in the death of the capo was executed by special forces of the Mexican Army in coordination with federal authorities in the state of Jalisco. During the intervention, several members of the criminal group also died, and high-caliber weapons and armored vehicles were seized. Hours after the official announcement, narco-blockades were reported on strategic highways in Jalisco and nearby entities, where alleged CJNG members set fire to trailers and automobiles to obstruct traffic and hinder the movement of security forces.

Authorities activated security protocols and urged the population to stay in their homes while order is restored in the affected areas. Likewise, the military and police presence was reinforced in areas considered high risk. The President of Mexico convened a meeting of the security cabinet to assess the situation and provide a detailed report on the events, reiterating the Government’s commitment to continue the fight against organized crime. The events have generated tension and uncertainty in several regions, as operations continue to contain possible reprisals following the fall of one of the country’s most wanted criminal leaders.
