Young person who died in a traffic accident on the Northeast Highway is identified

Monte Plata.– Authorities identified 25-year-old José Miguel Olivares Beltré, a resident of Santo Domingo, as the young man who lost his life after being involved in a traffic accident that occurred this Wednesday on the Northeast Highway.

The incident was recorded at noon at kilometer 114 of the Santo Domingo-Samaná highway, near a gas station located in the community of Baras de Capaz, in the Gonzalo municipal district, Monte Plata province.

According to preliminary reports, Olivares Beltré was driving a minibus used for transporting goods when, for reasons still under investigation, he collided with a Mitsubishi Fuso flatbed truck, driven by Juan Elías Morel Núñez.

Following the collision, the driver was assisted by units from the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Response System and transported to the Dr. Ángel Contreras Provincial Hospital, where he passed away while receiving medical attention due to the severity of his injuries.

Authorities reported that the body remains at the health center awaiting for relatives to come forward to carry out the corresponding procedures.

Meanwhile, the truck driver was unharmed. The competent authorities are keeping the investigation open to establish the circumstances under which the accident occurred.
