Young woman suffers serious injuries due to alleged medical malpractice in IUD extraction
Santo Domingo.- A young woman identified as Kiara Saviñón is going through a real ordeal after being the victim of an alleged case of medical malpractice in a health center in the country.
What should have been a routine procedure to remove an intrauterine device (IUD) ended in a medical emergency with serious physical, emotional, and economic consequences.
Kiara, her husband, and their 8-year-old daughter were ready to emigrate in just three days, after selling their belongings and canceling basic services. However, a procedure that was intended to be quick and painless became the beginning of a nightmare.
During the procedure to remove the IUD, Kiara suffered perforations in the uterus and large intestine, which resulted in emergency surgery, a temporary colostomy, and her immediate admission to intensive care.
Currently facing a long and costly treatment to reverse the colostomy and undergo abdominal reconstruction, without the resources or the home that he had already given up as part of his migratory process.
Through the fundraising platform Jompéame, their case went viral and they are in the process of obtaining the necessary funds to cover their hospitalization process, medications, and regain their long-awaited health.
