32 Haitian migrants are located and detained with nighttime drone surveillance in Santiago Rodríguez

Santiago Rodríguez, RD. – In a night surveillance operation with drones, soldiers from the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), located and detained thirty-two undocumented Haitian migrants in Cruce San José of the province of Santiago Rodríguez. The arrest was made by an ERD patrol that, in coordination with the drone operators, managed to detect and intercept the foreigners in irregular migratory condition when they were trying to evade the military checkpoint.

The foreigners, including twenty-five (25) men, four (04) women and three (03) minors, were transferred to the headquarters of the 4th. Infantry Brigade, ERD, where the corresponding procedures are carried out in accordance with the law.

This operation was carried out by military personnel of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), who maintain a constant deployment in the border area and nearby locations as part of the security plans ordered by the General Commander of the Army.
