Santo Domingo,.- A prisoner was injured in his hand and right wrist after attempting to escape from the Barahona prison, so he was transferred to the Doctor Jaime Mota Regional University Hospital, where he was treated, reported this Thursday the General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional Services (DGSPC).

Cordero Espinal left his cell at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, during the regular count, and evaded the first security perimeter of the penitentiary center, advancing towards surveillance zone number 3, where the necessary warnings were given for him to stop. After being taken into custody, Cordero Espinosa was transferred to the Jaime Mota hospital, where he received the corresponding medical attention, being returned to the penitentiary center where he remains under surveillance and with the due follow-up medical attention. Cordero Espinosa, 24 years old, is charged with the theft of a Glock pistol.
