The National Association of Vehicle Distribution Agencies (ANADIVE), through its president Cesar De los Santos, observed a slight reactivation of the vehicle market at the end of the first semester of this year 2026, compared to the same period of the previous year.
He specified that this semester 71,545 units entered the country for commercial purposes (New and Used), while in the same period of 2025, 69,248 were registered, which represents an increase of 2,297 vehicles.
“In the first six (6) months of the current year 2026, 25,435 new vehicles were imported, while in the same period of 2025, 25,664 entered the country, that is, (-228) units less,” he stated.
De los Santos stated that there is a more robust behavior registered in Used models, which reached 46,110 units in the period from January to June 2026, while in 2025 they registered 43,584, or in other words, an increase of 2,526 vehicles, which means 5.8% of the total.
He pointed out that, in terms of percentage participation, it is estimated that 35.5% are new units and 64.45% are pre-owned, in like-new condition.
It should be noted that, for every 5 units sold, two (2) correspond to new cars and three (3) to used vehicles.
The president of ANADIVE stated that these data demonstrate that the national economy maintains its strength, despite the international conflict in the Middle East between Iran, Israel, and the US, which increased international prices for oil and its derivatives.

However, he expressed that the Dominican economy remains solid, thanks to the government’s actions to maintain macroeconomic stability, the strength of the financial system, with attractive interest rates and availability of commercial credit, and a dollar exchange rate with a downward trend.
He stated that given the current situation, the entity remains vigilant and focused on holding the ANADIVE 2026 Auto Fair, Northern Region, on the occasion of “Father’s Day,” to which the Board of Directors offers its fullest support, wishing great success for the automotive sector.
The event, which aims to boost the sector, will be held from Wednesday the 22nd to Sunday the 26th of this current month of July, in the gardens of the Gran Teatro del Cibao, in the city of Santiago.
