Dominicanos Primero reaches 7% party favorability, according to a poll

Santo Domingo.- The political project Dominicanos Primero, promoted by businessman and communicator Santiago Matías, registers 7% party sympathy in a measurement corresponding to September 2026 carried out by the firm SONDEOS.
According to the results published this Wednesday, Dominicanos Primero appears among the organizations mentioned by respondents when asked about the political party they sympathize with. The measurement places the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) at 41%, followed by Fuerza del Pueblo (FP), with 24%, and the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), with 20%.

In that same question, the project led by Santiago Matías obtained 7%, while 5% of the participants indicated that they do not sympathize with any political organization. Another 1% mentioned other groups and 2% did not respond.
The results reflect the participants’ response at the time the study was conducted and correspond specifically to the question regarding party affiliation. In the case of Dominicanos Primero, it is an organization that is still in the process of recognition before the Central Electoral Board (JCE).
The survey also included a different question, related to which organization the respondents believe will win the 2028 presidential elections. In this section, Dominicanos Primero obtained 6% of the responses.
For that question, the PRM registered 43%, Fuerza del Pueblo 28%, and PLD 21%, while 2% of respondents did not answer. These percentages represent the expectations expressed by the participants and do not constitute electoral results or an official projection of the 2028 elections.
Dominicans First
Santiago Matías’ political project formally began its process before the JCE in August, when the application to seek recognition of the organization with a view to the 2028 elections was filed.
Subsequently, the electoral body formally accepted the deposit of the party symbols of Dominicanos Primero, including the organization’s logo, flag, colors, and motto. The step was reported on August 20 as part of the process that the project must complete to seek its official recognition.
The slogan presented by the organization is “First you, first us, first DR”, while its promoters continue working on the different stages required to complete the electoral process.
In parallel, Dominicanos Primero has reported on activities to gather support in different provinces of the country. Data released by the project itself show progress in several districts, although those figures correspond to the organization’s internal tracking and do not in themselves constitute a validation by the JCE.
The SONDEOS measurement thus incorporates Dominicanos Primero into the scenario of organizations mentioned by citizens when speaking of political sympathy, at a time when the project continues its formalization process before the electoral authorities.
For the Dominicans consulted, the responses regarding party sympathy show the presence of different organizations in the political landscape ahead of 2028, while the question about electoral expectations reflects a different perception among the participants.
The results place Dominicanos Primero at 7% in party sympathy and 6% in the question regarding which organization they believe will win the next elections, according to the released measurement.
The organization’s recognition process will continue under the procedures established by the JCE, while Santiago Matías and his team move forward with activities linked to his political project for the 2028 elections.
In that context, the survey results offer a snapshot of the responses collected during the measurement period and must be differentiated from the official results corresponding to the 2028 electoral process. For Dominicans, the participation of new organizations represents one of the elements that are part of the political landscape currently under development.
