Monte Plata.— Political leader Anderson de los Santos and residents of the Sabana de Payabo community have requested that President Luis Abinader build a high school with an agricultural focus, as students in the area must travel between 15 and 20 kilometers to attend high school.
De los Santos explained that the construction of the educational center would benefit students from Sabana de Payabo and other nearby communities, including locations in the Sánchez Ramírez province.
The leader reported that the community has a plot of land of approximately 28 “tareas” that could be used for the construction of the high school, so he asked the Government to address the demand and order the execution of the project.
“There is no need to buy an inch of land for a high school to be built here in this community,” stated De los Santos.
Likewise, he highlighted the importance of the center having an agricultural orientation, taking into account the productive potential of the area and the need to offer young people training linked to the economic activities of their communities.

The request was also supported by merchant Franklin Domingo Batista, a native of Payabo, who stated that the land should be allocated for the construction of the educational center.

Meanwhile, Nelson Brazobán expressed his concern regarding what he described as attempts by private individuals to appropriate the land and requested the intervention of the competent authorities to ensure that the space remains for the benefit of the community.

The community members reiterated their call to the Government to address the demand and build the high school, considering that the project would contribute to improving access to secondary education and to the educational and productive development of Don Juan and other communities in the area.
