Santo Domingo.– The party Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) closed this Sunday its internal voting process to elect new members of the Political Directorate, in a day supervised by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and which, according to preliminary reports, took place in an orderly manner and with a participation close to 90%.

The former president of the Republic and president of the organization, Leonel Fernández, described the event as a key step within the FP’s internal organization cycle, assuring that it constitutes a prelude to what will be the electoral victory in 2028.

The elections, in which the 2,043 members of the Central Directorate participated, were held in two voting centers: the Jhonny Ventura National House and the Esteban Díaz Jáquez Political House, where eleven ballot boxes and booths provided by the JCE functioned. In total, 93 candidates competed for ten vacancies in the Political Directorate, in addition to two reserved positions, which will raise the number of members of this strategic decision-making body to 73.

The senator for the National District, Omar Fernández, also valued the day, highlighting that the Fuerza del Pueblo “looks mature and prepared to exercise power” in the upcoming national elections.
