Santo Domingo.- On the occasion of its 45th anniversary, the Dominican Society of Orthodontics launched the campaign “One child, one orthodontist”, an initiative that seeks to give healthy smiles to children between 10 and 17 years old from vulnerable sectors of the country.
Doctor Marie Morrobel, in an exclusive interview for De Último Minuto, detailed that this campaign aims to offer quality and completely free orthodontic treatments, aimed at children belonging to non-profit foundations.
“Nosotros entendemos que esta campaña será de gran impacto, pues está demostrado que una sonrisa es la carta de presentación de un individuo. Y en las edades en que se encuentran los beneficiarios, se evita el bullying y el acoso escolar”,
afirmó la especialista.

The campaign is currently in its first phase and will work with 30 school-age children who have dental malposition problems correctable with orthodontics and who are in good general health.
The program will begin at the Doña Chucha Home School, located in Gazcue, a charitable institution dedicated to the care and education of minors.
Each child will be sponsored by their treating orthodontist who will assume the entire process voluntarily, and the treatment will last as long as necessary for each case, between 12 and 36 months, and will not involve any cost for the patient or their family.
“Con lo que mejor sabemos hacer, que es crear sonrisas, estamos aportando al futuro de estas niñas”,
expresó Morrobel.
In this initial stage, the interceptive phase will be covered, which includes the use of orthopedic appliances. In the future, it is planned to also cover the preventive and corrective phases of orthodontics, according to the needs of each child.
