Brazilian influencer Malévola Alves was arrested in Egypt on October 20 over alleged obscene behavior and sexual gestures after videos showing her and a friend kissing and touching men inside a car and on the street went viral, according to Brazilian outlet G1.

Egypt’s Interior Ministry said the two women were identified following an investigation and arrested in the Alexandria governorate.

According to the ministry, the videos showed two foreign tourists engaging in what authorities described as obscene and exhibitionist behavior, including sexual gestures and actions that allegedly disturbed passersby in public areas across several provinces.

The ministry said the women admitted during questioning that they had recorded and posted the videos on social media to increase their views. Authorities said legal measures had been taken and that the Public Prosecution had assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Before the official announcement, Alves said on social media that she and her friend had been taken to a police station while visiting Alexandria. According to her account, officers confiscated both women’s passports.

The case remains under investigation, and the allegations have not been independently established in court.
