Santo Domingo.- The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District imposed three months of preventive detention, as a coercive measure, on a taxi driver accused of causing the death of a man in the Evaristo Morales sector, National District, on November 14th.

The prosecuting body, represented by prosecutor Vidalis Mora Díaz, demonstrated to the court the seriousness of the acts committed by the defendant, who did not present guarantees that he could respond to the process with a coercive measure other than imprisonment, the document stated. According to the record, the events occurred on the morning of November 14th, after the victim, Raider Cruz Jiménez, and Mrs. Davana Zapata Real concluded a trip in the taxi service provided by Philismart Báez. Upon arriving at the residence they were heading to, Zapata Real realized he had forgotten his bank card in the Kia vehicle, model K5, silver color, license plate A774607, owned by Baez, who was contacted and returned to the place where he had left the victim and his companion, conditioning the delivery of the card to a new payment for having moved once more to the residence. Faced with this demand from Philismart Báez, a discussion ensued in which Cruz Jiménez tried to snatch the card, an action in response to which the defendant started the vehicle towards Winston Churchill Avenue, and the victim, who had been hanging from the driver’s window, fell to the pavement, resulting in severe multiple blunt trauma, which caused his death. The accused stopped when Cruz Jiménez fell to the pavement, but left the scene, abandoning it, actions that were captured by the security cameras in the area. By decision of Judge Rigoberto Sena Báez, he will serve preventive detention in the La Victoria Penitentiary Center.
