A video emerging from the devastating floods in Nepal shows a man running across a suspension bridge as a rapidly rising river nearly reaches the structure.
The man’s family was stranded on the opposite side of the river while he remained on the other bank. With the bridge appearing at risk of collapsing at any moment, he decided to cross despite the dangerous conditions.
According to the account accompanying the video, the man is his family’s sole provider and feared that his family would struggle to survive without him. He therefore risked his life and ran across the bridge as floodwaters surged beneath it.
He ran as fast as he could for a long distance until he was completely exhausted. Once he reached the other side safely, he slowed down and walked calmly. Although exhausted, he appeared relieved and happy to have overcome the dangerous crossing and reached his family safely.
The video has been shared as an emotional example of the lengths someone may go to protect and be with their family during a crisis.
