Migration updates requirements and procedures for immigration procedures as of June 1

Santo Domingo, – The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that as of June 1st, new requirements and procedures will come into effect for several of the immigration procedures available to both Dominican citizens and foreigners residing in the country.

Among the main modifications are changes in the criteria for verifying economic solvency for those who opt for the residency category, as well as in the process of renewing temporary residency for work reasons, in case the applicant has changed employers.

Likewise, the DGM ordered the update of the requirements for the Temporary Worker (TT-1) status, also establishing as mandatory the visa for those who wish to change their student (E-1) subcategory to temporary worker (TT-1). In addition, the automatic expiration of inactive online applications will be implemented and the appointment system by file for legal representatives will be adjusted.

These modifications are part of an institutional strategy aimed at optimizing the quality, efficiency, and transparency of migration services, ensuring compliance with the current legal framework and a better experience for users.

The migration authorities urge citizens to consult all the details of the changes on the official portal www.migracion.gob.do, where updated information on each procedure is available.
