Santo Domingo.- The President of the Senate, Ricardo de Los Santos, affirmed this Thursday that the National Congress is willing to support any agreement or measures reached by President Abinader with former presidents Danilo Medina, Hipólito Mejía and Leonel Fernández in reference to the situation of institutional crisis and social violence in which the Republic of Haiti finds itself.
The legislator celebrated the meeting while also indicating that the country sends a resounding signal of unity to the international community.
The meeting that took place yesterday at the Ministry of Defense, which brought together the 4 former presidents of the Dominican Republic, two from the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), one from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and one from the Fuerza Pueblo (FP), reached four agreements.

The first was the creation of joint workspaces between the Government and former presidents to define a coherent national policy towards Haiti. Secondly, it is to hold a Call for the Economic and Social Council (CES), to which the president and the three former presidents will go to discuss and agree on concrete proposals.
Also place to provide periodic reports to former presidents on the state of national security linked to the Haitian situation. Finally, it is Impulse of a unified foreign policy, articulated through bilateral meetings between the president and former presidents.
