Santiago. – The Che Guevara Popular Front and the April 24th Movement denied having any knowledge that the shooting reported while the Director General of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, was passing through an area of Navarrete during his supervision tour would take place. At the same time, they warned that the strike will be extended for another 24 hours if the authorities do not address the community’s demands.
Aderlin Núñez, spokesperson for the Che Guevara movement, stated that social and popular organizations knew the police director was in the municipality, but denied that they were aware that the shootout recorded near the free trade zone would occur.
The leader stated that they also do not know who started the shooting and maintained that the incident was not contemplated within the actions called by the popular groups.
He warned that Navarrete could wake up this Thursday to a new day of strikes if, within the next few hours, the authorities do not come to the municipality to listen to the demands and seek solutions to the problems claimed by the population.
Likewise, the popular leader maintained that, once the 48-hour period concludes, the organizations are evaluating adding another 24 hours of strike as a pressure mechanism in the face of what he described as the authorities’ indifference.

The movement also called on residents to prepare and stock up on food and basic products in case the protest is prolonged.
The warning comes amid a heavy police and military deployment in Navarrete, where authorities are maintaining surveillance to preserve order and ensure free transit during the day of protest.
