Security guard injured at UASD discharged from hospital

Santo Domingo. – One of the security agents injured during the shooting that occurred last Thursday, October 16, on the central campus of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) was discharged from the hospital this Monday, after several days of recovery. This is Juan Manuel Méndez, who was injured in a hand during the incident. Méndez underwent surgery at the Dominican Cuban Medical Center, where he had been admitted since the day of the shooting. The information was confirmed by the Communications coordinator of UASD, Roberto Tejada Muñoz, who reported that the agent was discharged this morning, after showing a satisfactory evolution.

Unfortunately, his partner Lyedgers Tameydshi Encarnación Peña, who was also injured during the shooting, passed away last Saturday after being in critical condition since the day of the incident. The shooting at UASD continues under investigation by the authorities, while the university community demands justice and greater security on campus.
