VERÓN–PUNTA CANA. – The City Council of the municipal district Verón–Punta Cana reported this Sunday that the solid waste collection truck involved in the accident that occurred on Saturday night in the community of La Ceiba del Salado, which left several people dead and injured, is not part of the municipal fleet.
In a statement, the mayor’s office specified that both the vehicle and its driver belong to a private service company that operates in the tourist area, disassociating the city council from the regrettable event.
The city council noted that the accident caused great shock in the community and assured that, since the moment of the tragedy, its “Department of Risk and Disaster Management” has provided all possible support to those affected and their families.
