Verón-Punta Cana.– Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), in coordination with members of the Public Ministry, executed a new series of operations against micro-trafficking in different sectors of Verón-Punta Cana, where they arrested 10 people and seized more than 1,400 grams of alleged narcotic substances.
The interventions are part of the interdiction actions carried out by the authorities to combat drug trafficking and distribution in that important tourist area in the east of the country, under the guidelines of the Joint Task Force (FTC).
According to the official report, during the raids and operations, 257 grams of alleged cocaine, 1,159 grams of marijuana, and 36 doses of a rocky material presumed to be crack were confiscated. In addition, the authorities seized seven cell phones, a grinder, two scales, two slot machines, and an undetermined amount of money in pesos and dollars.

The actions were concentrated in the sectors of Verón, La Cristinita, Lotificación Bávaro, La Doble Vía, Kosovo, and Villa La Fe, among other communities identified by intelligence agencies as potential points for the sale and distribution of illicit substances.
Among those detained are Henry Estevez, Franklin Martínez, Antonio Mendoza, Juan Balbuena, Omar Novas, Miguel Martínez, Cristian Monegro, Carlos Núñez and Richard Ferreras, who were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry of La Altagracia province for the corresponding legal procedures.

The authorities indicated that the operations were carried out in response to reports received through different information and intelligence channels, related to activities linked to micro-trafficking and drug consumption in different sectors of the municipality.
The DNCD and the Public Ministry reiterated that they will continue to strengthen interdiction and prosecution efforts against drug trafficking at the local level, with the goal of dismantling controlled substance distribution networks and ensuring higher levels of security in the intervened communities.
