Brazilian singer Rey Vaqueiro and seven other people escaped unharmed after a plane carrying the group caught fire in north-eastern Brazil. The executive jet veered off the runway while landing at a private airstrip in Parelhas, in the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte, in the early hours of Sunday, according to the Fire Department.
There were eight people on board – two crew members and six passengers, including Rey Vaqueiro and members of his team. All of them managed to get out of the aircraft before it was engulfed in flames.
The plane was destroyed in the fire. No injuries were reported.
Rey Vaqueiro, whose real name is David Linhares Pereira de Sousa, is 26 and was scheduled to perform in Parelhas on Sunday morning. He had performed in Moreno, in Pernambuco, on Saturday night before travelling to Rio Grande do Norte.
