After more than a decade bringing Teresa Mendoza to life, Kate del Castillo has closed one of the most important chapters of her career. The Mexican actress officially finished filming the fourth and final season of La Reina del Sur and shared an emotional message in which she could not hold back her tears.
From the department in Colombia where she lived during much of the filming, Kate spoke about how difficult it is to say goodbye to the character that made her an icon of Spanish-language television.
“I want to apologize in advance if I get sentimental, but it has been an incredible day, full of emotions. Today I finish the fourth season of La Reina del Sur and this place is already a part of me; I already feel Colombian,” the actress expressed.
In the video, Kate acknowledged that few characters offer as complex a journey for an actress as that of Teresa Mendoza, the woman who went from being a young woman from Sinaloa pursued by drug trafficking to becoming one of the most beloved anti-heroines in fiction.
“It has been an honor to play Teresa. It is difficult as an actress to find a character so rewarding, so beautiful and so full of contradictions; an antiheroine in every sense,” she said.

The actress also dedicated a few words of gratitude to the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez-Reverte, author of the eponymous novel published in 2002, who gave his approval for her to embody the character since the first television adaptation.
“Thank you, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, for creating something so beautiful and for giving me your blessing to play one of your favorite characters. I hope I have lived up to it.”
Visibly moved, Del Castillo also thanked Telemundo, the directors, the technical team, and the actors who have been part of the production since its premiere.

“Those who have passed through here know that we become family. I have learned millions of things from each one of them, and they have made me a better person and a better actress,” she stated.
But the most emotional moment came when she spoke about the audience that turned Teresa Mendoza into an international phenomenon.
“What makes me most angry is that no one is ever going to call me ‘My queen’ again. These are tears of joy, of nostalgia, and also of exhaustion. Thank you for following La Reina del Sur for all these years.” Source: Quien
