7.4 magnitude earthquake shakes southern Mexico on the border with Guatemala

Mexico City.- A magnitude 7.4 earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded this Friday in southern Mexico, with its epicenter in Ciudad Hidalgo (state of Chiapas), near the border with Guatemala, with no reports of fatalities or serious damage from authorities at this time.
The earthquake took place southwest of this city at 8:48 local time (14:48 GMT), as reported by the National Seismological Service.

The Civil Protection Secretariat of Chiapas explained, on its X account, that it is “active” and in “constant monitoring” of the situation in the different regions of the state, without offering further details at the moment.
