A 68-year-old California retiree was fatally stabbed outside his home in the Bay Area, allegedly after encountering a Venezuelan man during a reported burglary, according to the information provided.
The victim, identified as Todd Stewart, reportedly confronted 36-year-old Marcos Arrante Valdez during the alleged break-in. Authorities said Valdez had been released from jail one day before the fatal incident.
According to the report, Valdez had two previous burglary cases and had been released by the courts on both occasions. The Department of Homeland Security is urging California authorities to keep him in custody and transfer him to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following his court appearance.
The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain under investigation, and the allegations against Valdez have not been established in court.
