Several civilians were killed after a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack targeted Moscow and the surrounding region, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov. Russian air defenses said they shot down or neutralized 249 drones across 17 districts between 3 and 5 a.m. local time, while Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that 152 drones were intercepted over the capital.
In Sofiino, authorities said a drone struck a three-story apartment building, killing a 44-year-old woman and injuring five others, including two children. In Ramensky, falling drone debris caused a fire on the roof of a 21-story residential building, prompting the evacuation of 400 people, including 70 children. Russian authorities also reported another civilian death in Orekhovo-Zuyevo and damage and fires at residential buildings, homes and vehicles in several districts.
