Edmundo González demands a date for presidential elections in Venezuela

Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia demanded that a date be set for the next presidential elections in Venezuela and that the necessary conditions be guaranteed so that citizens can freely choose their authorities.

In a message posted on the social network X on the occasion of the demonstrations called for this October 22, González insisted that the country needs a concrete response regarding the electoral call and a process that respects the political rights of the population.

The opposition leader maintained that a democratic transition requires more than just holding elections. Among the measures he considers necessary, he mentioned the renewal of the National Electoral Council (CNE), the independence of the judiciary, and guarantees for the exercise of political rights.

He also raised the need to create conditions that allow for the safe return of María Corina Machado to Venezuela, as part of a process aimed at recovering democratic institutions.
