The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spoke out this about the death this Saturday of the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during a joint attack by the United States and Israel against the Persian country. In a statement, the entity offered its condolences for the death, assuring that they have “lost a great leader”, as “he was incomparable in his time in terms of spiritual purity, strength of faith, wisdom, courage in the face of the arrogant and jihad in the path of God”.

“With the martyrdom and migration to God of Jamene’i, his path and trajectory will not stop, but will continue with power and splendor. This martyrdom will make our nation more determined to continue Jamene’i’s luminous path,” it reads. In this regard, they described the death of the Iranian leader as a “criminal and terrorist act”, as well as “a flagrant violation of religious, moral and legal norms”. “Therefore, the hand of revenge of the Iranian nation will not let the assassins escape“, he warned, promising to “inflict severe, decisive and humiliating punishment on them”. They also stated that they will continue to defend Jamene’s “invaluable legacy”, “continue strongly on the path of his guidance” and “stand firm to confront internal and external conspiracies to teach lessons to those who violate the Islamic homeland.”Finally, they called on all sectors of the population to demonstrate “their cohesion and national unity to the world and to the malicious terrorist enemies of this nation”, participating in national defense.

Later, US President Donald Trump, confirmed that Washington’s forces had joined the aggression against the Persian country. In response, Iran launched several waves of ballistic missiles towards Israel, as well as against bases of the United States located in Middle Eastern countries.
