Man arrested in fatal shooting of Dominican man in Connecticut

Bridgeport police in Connecticut announced the arrest of Jorge Luis Ortiz, 57, in connection with the fatal shooting of Dominican national Nelson Manuel Batista, 48.
Batista was shot on October 12 near the intersection of Cottage Street and Park Avenue. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities are investigating the case as a possible road rage incident.
Ortiz faces charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Following his appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court, a judge increased his bail from the initially set $2.5 million to $5 million.
Police said assistance from members of the public helped investigators identify the suspect.
The charges remain subject to the judicial process and do not constitute a conviction.
