Mexican influencer shot dead during livestream in Sinaloa

Mexican influencer César Gastelum was shot and killed Tuesday evening while livestreaming with two friends in Culiacán, Sinaloa, just meters from the state Attorney General’s Office.

Gastelum, known online as “Cesarín,” had nearly 600,000 followers on TikTok and was broadcasting live on the streaming platform Kick under the username “compasexor” when the attack occurred.

According to reports, the three content creators were outside a KFC restaurant dressed as food delivery workers as part of a social media challenge. During the livestream, they appeared alarmed after a motorcycle passed by, with one of them saying, “Let’s go… the motorcycle, the motorcycle,” while another admitted he felt frightened.

Moments later, the motorcycle reportedly returned, and one of its occupants allegedly opened fire, striking Gastelum in the head. The 25-year-old died at the scene as thousands of viewers witnessed the shooting live.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the killing, but no motive has been officially confirmed. Gastelum’s social media accounts have since been flooded with messages of condolence from followers.
