North Korea launched around 10 short-range ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on Thursday, according to South Korea’s military.
The projectiles were fired from the Pyongyang area at around 5 p.m. local time and came down in waters outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, according to Japanese authorities.
The launches took place as South Korea and the United States conduct their annual Ulchi Freedom Shield military exercises and as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Seoul.
