Pennsylvania man kills pregnant daughter, wife and other relatives in family massacre

A 45-year-old man identified as Matthew Stone Sr. shot and killed members of his family before taking his own life at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, authorities said. The victims included his wife, three children and two grandchildren.

The death toll rose after the county medical examiner confirmed that the unborn baby of Angelina Stone, 24, would also be counted as a homicide victim because of the advanced stage of her pregnancy. The update brought the total to nine victims, excluding the shooter, and 10 deaths overall.

The shooting occurred on Friday, October 9, 2026. Authorities spent the following days identifying the victims, establishing their family relationships and updating the official death toll.

On Tuesday, October 13, Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook confirmed that the baby Angelina was expecting would be included in the homicide count. She had been scheduled to give birth on Monday, October 12.

Among those killed were the gunman’s wife, Michelle Stone, and his children Matthew Stone Jr., 21, Jonathan Stone, 19, and Angelina Stone, 24. The killings affected three generations of the same family.
