The U.S. President, Donald Trump, indicated this Saturday that Washington will be the one to lead the policy in Venezuela until the White House considers that they can “make a safe transition”. Trump’s words were offered at a press conference from the White House, after the US president himself confirmed a series of bombings against Venezuela and the kidnapping of the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, in the early hours of the morning. “We want peace, freedom, and justice for the great people of Venezuela, and that includes many Venezuelans who now live in the U.S. and want to return to their country as their homeland. We cannot risk someone else taking control of Venezuela,” Trump said, who added that his government will not “allow that to happen.”
