Washington.– White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has
announced this Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump promised to make a decision on Iran
within two weeks.
“I have a message directly from the president and I quote him verbatim: ‘Based on the fact that there is a considerable possibility of whether or not negotiations with Iran will be held in the near future
I will make a decision on whether or not to go in the next two weeks’,” the spokeswoman declared during a press conference.

When asked if there is still a considerable possibility of holding negotiations with Iran in the short term, she reiterated that Trump will make that decision later. “I am not going to go into the motives or the reasons.
The president believes so, but that is his position and he will make a decision in the next two weeks,” she added.
In this sense, he emphasized that the leader has stated for years that the Islamic Republic cannot possess nuclear weapons. “President
Trump has an incredible instinct and has kept the United States and the world safe,” he noted, emphasizing that in his first term he implemented a foreign policy agenda based on peace through strength.
“And regarding Iran,
no one should be surprised by the president’s stance that Iran cannot under any circumstances obtain nuclear weapons. He has been unequivocally clear about this for decades,” he emphasized.
Earlier this day, it was reported that
Trump was considering attacking the Iranian underground uranium enrichment plant of Fordo.
In addition, Reuters, citing three diplomats familiar with the matter,
reported that the US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi,
have spoken by phone several times in an attempt to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
Last Sunday, the sixth round of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. was supposed to be held in the capital of Oman regarding the Persian nation’s nuclear program. Following the attack by Israel, Tehran decided not to participate and suspend the talks until further notice.
