New York.- A U.S. service member was killed and another was wounded in northern Iraq during the controlled detonation of an Iranian explosive, the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) reported this Sunday.
The death occurred on Saturday, July 18, shortly after two more U.S. service members died in Jordan in an Iranian attack, which also left one uniformed officer missing.

According to the statement, the U.S. Army has found unidentified remains of a person at the same site of the Jordan attack, which it is still verifying.
These are the first U.S. casualties recorded in the conflict since the ceasefire between Iran and the United States was broken last week.
According to The New York Times, the soldier who died in Iraq during the neutralization of an Iranian drone was not an explosive ordnance disposal technician, but another soldier struck by debris or fragments when the device detonated.
Centcom has not yet revealed the identities of the deceased “out of respect for the families” during the notification process.
