U.S. deploys missile and anti-drone laser systems near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence amid tensions with Iran

U.S. air defense systems have been deployed near President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, as security concerns increase amid tensions with Iran. According to defense publication The War Zone, missile systems identified as AN/TWQ-1 Avengers were installed in Palm Beach and near Palm Beach International Airport, approximately five kilometers west of the property. The deployment reportedly took place about two weeks ago.

The security measures also include at least one Locust anti-drone laser system, developed by U.S. company AeroVironment to detect and neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles. A Secret Service spokesperson said the agency operates in an elevated threat environment and continuously adapts its protective measures using advanced technology. The deployment comes amid heightened tensions with Iran and follows a security incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2026, when an armed man opened fire and Trump was evacuated.
