The U.S. government has blamed Spain’s migration policies for the ongoing crisis in Ceuta, saying the situation is the result of efforts to allow and facilitate illegal mass migration into Europe.
In a statement, the U.S. Department of State expressed support for the people of Spain and Europe, describing the events at the Ceuta border as a “blatant violation of national sovereignty.”
The statement comes as Spain continues responding to the unprecedented influx of migrants into the North African enclave.
