Customer crashes electric car through dealership window in Buenos Aires

A customer visiting an electric car dealership in downtown Buenos Aires lost control of a vehicle during a test drive inside the showroom, smashing through the glass storefront and crashing into a tree on the sidewalk.

The incident occurred on Carlos Pellegrini Street, near number 100 and just meters from the Obelisk, in the Argentine capital’s downtown area. The event was recorded by the dealership’s security cameras, according to Infobae.

According to the report, the customer accidentally accelerated while behind the wheel of the electric vehicle. The car quickly gained speed, crashed through the dealership’s glass facade and ended up outside on the sidewalk.

The footage shows two employees inside the showroom reacting in shock as the vehicle bursts through the window, scattering broken glass across the floor.

After leaving the dealership, the car struck a tree and a newsstand that had been converted into a coffee shop. The impacts eventually brought the vehicle to a stop.

The tree on the sidewalk acted as a barrier, preventing the car from continuing toward the roadway, where pedestrians and other vehicles were passing. According to the report, the situation could have had more serious consequences had the vehicle continued moving.

The report did not provide further details about possible injuries or the extent of the damage caused by the crash.
