A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Granada province on Tuesday morning, with the epicenter located northwest of Gójar at a depth of 5 kilometers, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The Andalusian government confirmed that three people suffered minor injuries following the earthquake. The tremor was also felt in parts of Almería, Málaga and Córdoba.
Several aftershocks were recorded following the main quake. The strongest, according to preliminary measurements, reached magnitude 4.3 at 11:35 a.m., followed by another magnitude 4.2 at 12:39 p.m., both centered in Alhendín.
The latest earthquake is among the strongest recorded in the seismic sequence affecting Granada since August 14. Authorities have raised the emergency level in Granada, while monitoring the situation and additional tremors.
