Footage circulating on social media shows Chadian forces deployed in Haiti as international security efforts continue to confront armed gangs operating across the country.

The deployment comes amid heightened concern following an October 18 ambush in Santo, an area of Croix-des-Bouquets near Port-au-Prince, in which four Salvadoran soldiers serving with the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) went missing.

The soldiers were traveling in a vehicle belonging to the international force when armed men opened fire, according to reports. Their whereabouts remain unknown, and U.S. officials have expressed hope that all four survived the attack.

The incident has raised concerns about the security risks facing international personnel deployed to support efforts to contain gang violence in Haiti.

The GSF includes personnel from several countries, including Chad, El Salvador, Jamaica and Guatemala. Its mission is to support Haitian security forces in confronting armed gangs and restoring security in areas affected by violence.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the Chadian forces shown in the circulating footage are directly involved in the search for the missing Salvadoran soldiers.
