Madrid. – Lando Norris delivered a sensational performance under adverse conditions and secured the
pole position for the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix, in a qualifying session marked by rain and a slippery track that forced the drivers to push their skills to the limit.

The British McLaren driver narrowly beat
Max Verstappen, who secured second position on the grid. The Spaniard
Carlos Sainz also managed to stand out on a complicated track and will start third after a solid and consistent performance with his Ferrari.
The session left behind
Óscar Piastri, Norris’ teammate and main rival for the championship. The Australian never managed to find the right pace and finished fifth, also surpassed by the Mercedes of
George Russell, who took fourth place.
Racing Bulls surprise in a chaotic qualifying
The changing weather conditions allowed the
Racing Bulls drivers to shine, with
Liam Lawson placing in a meritorious sixth place and
Isack Hadjar in eighth position.
Between them was
Fernando Alonso, who once again showed his mastery in the rain to take his Aston Martin to a competitive seventh position, thus mitigating the usual difficulties of the single-seater.
Leclerc and Hamilton have a day to forget
The Monegasque
Charles Leclerc couldn’t fully control his Ferrari and various errors relegated him to ninth place, far from his usual aspirations.
But worse luck befell
Lewis Hamilton, who closed the classification in last place after a session marked by off-track excursions and lack of grip.
Colapinto advances; Gasly completes the top 10
Argentinian
Franco Colapinto signed an acceptable performance by placing his Alpine in 15th position, while his teammate
Pierre Gasly managed to close the
top 10 of the qualifying session.
With a grid conditioned by the weather and multiple surprises, the Las Vegas Grand Prix promises a race full of strategy, tire management, and possible performance rebounds for the main contenders.
