Detroit. – Dominican slugger Juan Soto started September with an offensive explosion and led the New York Mets to a 10-8 victory over the Detroit Tigers this Monday at Comerica Park, thanks to a grand slam in the fourth inning and a two-run triple in the sixth.
With his performance, Soto matched his personal best of six RBIs in a game, a record he had achieved on September 17, 2023, when he played with the San Diego Padres. It was only his second grand slam in the Major Leagues, within his total of 237 home runs in the MLB.
The key hit came with two outs and the count at 1-2 against veteran Charlie Morton, who hung a curveball in Soto’s power zone. The Dominican did not forgive and deposited the ball 419 feet away to right-center field, with an exit velocity of 108 mph, giving the Mets a 6-3 lead.
